Sewing Level 1: Machine Sewing for Absolute Beginners

This two hour workshop serves as an introductory course for individuals new to machine sewing who do not yet own their own equipment. The primary objective is to build foundational skills and confidence in a supportive environment, removing the intimidation factor often associated with operating a sewing machine for the first time.

Participants will receive hands on instruction covering essential technical tasks. You will learn how to properly set up and thread your machine, wind a bobbin, and change needles. The curriculum also includes mastering seam allowances, backstitching techniques, and adjusting machine settings. We include a dedicated section on troubleshooting common issues to ensure you feel prepared for future independent projects.

This course is perfect for complete beginners looking to start their creative journey. Our goal is to prepare you for more advanced topics like garment sewing, quilting, or bag making. The atmosphere is professional and encouraging, designed to help you transition into our level two series. If you wish to bring your own machine, please register for our alternative course, Sewing Level 1: Get to Know Your Machine.
