Sewing Level 1: Get to Know Your Sewing Machine
This hands-on workshop is designed to help you master your sewing machine. You will learn the essentials of machine operation to build a strong foundation for future sewing projects. It is the perfect starting point for those who own a machine but are not yet comfortable using it.
During this session, you will learn to set up and thread your machine, wind a bobbin, and change needles. We will cover how to manage seam allowances, backstitching, and adjusting machine settings. You will also learn basic troubleshooting techniques to keep your projects running smoothly. Please bring your sewing machine, power cord, foot pedal, machine manual, thread, and two empty bobbins.
This class is ideal for beginners who want to move past the intimidation of complex machinery. It prepares you for our advanced courses in garment construction and quilting. Before registering, please verify that your machine powers on and the needle moves properly. If you do not own a machine, please register for our alternative absolute beginner course instead. Join us to gain the confidence you need to start your sewing journey.
