Sewing Level 1: Get to Know Your Sewing Machine

This hands-on workshop is designed to help you master your sewing machine and build foundational skills. It is the perfect starting point for anyone who owns a machine but feels intimidated by the setup process or basic functions. You will gain the confidence needed to start your sewing journey and prepare for more advanced projects like quilting or garment construction.

During the session, you will learn to thread your machine, wind a bobbin, and change needles safely. We will cover essential techniques such as managing seam allowances, backstitching, and adjusting settings for different fabrics. You will also receive guidance on basic troubleshooting to ensure your machine runs smoothly. Please bring your own sewing machine, power cord, foot pedal, machine manual, thread, and two compatible empty bobbins.

This class is intended for adults who are ready to learn machine basics in a supportive environment. Before registering, ensure your machine turns on and the needle moves when you press the pedal. If you do not own a machine, please register for our alternative absolute beginners session instead. We look forward to helping you get started.
