Tree Camp is an intensive dendrology workshop designed to provide a hands-on introduction to tree identification. Held at the Jesse P. Perry III Arboretum at Prairie Ridge, this event offers participants a practical way to learn how to recognize common Piedmont tree species. Attendees will explore the arboretum while developing the skills to identify trees using diagnostic features like leaves, twigs, bark, and seeds.

During the session, you will examine various specimens, including species typically found in the mountains or along the coast. The curriculum covers the use of simple identification keys for effective classification. Beyond basic identification, you will learn how to engage in collaborative science by tracking the seasonal life cycles of trees through the Nature's Notebook platform.

This workshop is ideal for nature enthusiasts, students, and curious learners looking to improve their botanical knowledge in a professional outdoor setting. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned outdoor explorer, this camp provides the tools needed to understand our local ecosystems. Join us at the arboretum to sharpen your observation skills and contribute to ongoing scientific research projects.
