Join us for a guided exploration of our prairie and forest habitats as we search for spiders and their intricate webs. This educational event focuses on understanding spider biology and their vital contributions to the local ecosystem while collecting scientific data for a collaborative research project.

Participants will learn to identify different spider species using the iNaturalist mobile application. We will actively record observations and upload them to contribute to citizen science efforts. This session serves as an ideal preparation for the upcoming North Carolina Spider Search scheduled for October 3 through 11, where participants can earn exclusive badges or stickers for their contributions.

This program is perfect for nature enthusiasts, curious learners, and anyone interested in local wildlife. We foster an energetic and hands-on learning environment suitable for all ages. Please download the free iNaturalist app on your mobile device prior to your arrival to ensure you are ready for the field. We look forward to seeing you there as we uncover the fascinating world of our eight-legged neighbors and expand our collective knowledge of the environment.
