Sewing Level 1: Machine Sewing for Absolute Beginners

This two-hour workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to machine sewing for absolute beginners. It is designed for individuals who do not own a sewing machine and want to gain foundational technical skills in a supportive environment.

Participants will learn essential machine operations including how to set up and thread the unit, change needles, and wind a bobbin. You will gain practical experience in stitching with precise seam allowances, executing backstitches, and adjusting machine settings to suit different fabric needs. The curriculum also covers basic troubleshooting techniques to ensure you can solve common sewing challenges independently. By the end of the session, you will have the confidence to manage a sewing machine effectively.

This class is ideal for anyone interested in garment construction, bag making, or quilting but feels intimidated by the equipment. It serves as the prerequisite for our Level 2 advanced sewing series. If you already own a machine and wish to learn on your personal equipment, please register for our specific Get to Know Your Machine course instead.
