Description

Science Café is a monthly after-hours event that brings together curious minds for informal presentations and open discussions with leading science experts. This session focuses on flood resilience planning within the Neuse River Basin, offering attendees a clear look at how our region is preparing for future weather events.

Experts Madison Teeter and Suna Rosenberg will lead the conversation by examining the history of flooding in the Neuse River Basin. They will outline the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality River Basin Action Strategy, which identifies 113 resilience projects ranging from nature-based solutions to infrastructure upgrades. You will learn about the data driving these decisions and how local governments and organizations are working together to mitigate flood risks through policy and strategic planning.

This event is designed for residents, community leaders, and anyone interested in environmental science and public safety. The atmosphere is casual, welcoming, and perfect for asking questions. Join us to discover how you can better understand flood risks in your own community. The Daily Planet Café is open from 5pm to 8pm with a full menu available for your convenience.
