Nature Play Day is an outdoor educational program at the North Carolina Museum of Art designed to encourage children to explore the natural world. This recurring event transforms the museum park into an interactive space where families engage with nature through unstructured, hands-on play. A play facilitator from Prairie Ridge is on-site to guide families and support a variety of outdoor activities.

Participants can expect a rotating selection of materials each month to keep experiences fresh. Activities typically include fort building, costume play, puppetry, bubbles, and nature-inspired painting. These supplies are curated to spark imagination and physical engagement within the museum park environment. The presence of a facilitator ensures that children remain safe and encouraged throughout the exploration process.

This free program is primarily designed for children aged seven and younger, though all are welcome to attend. Since the entire event takes place outdoors, guests should arrive dressed for the weather and ready for messy play. This drop-in session offers a casual, energetic atmosphere for families. We invite you to join us for a morning of creative discovery.
