I've been here many times to hike the trails and go canoeing. A pretty nice area considering how close it is to Wake Forest. You can hike or bike around the entire lake, the east side is an unofficial trail, and sometimes it branches off in multiple directions, but if you just keep going around the lake you can't really go wrong.

They prohibit swimming here, can't think of a good reason why.

I've thought before it would be nice if they allowed camping at, say, one hike in site. I would definitely take the family there....

Nice forested loop trail around the reservoir. About 3.5 miles. Shared with mountain bikes but we didn’t encounter many. Peaceful trail all along the shore. You can take paddle or electric boats on the water but we only encounter a few paddlers. No facilities.

Lovely place and very close to town. Today we saw an albino duck, and a sugar maple tree with leaves turned brown for winter. Plus two saplings cut down by beavers, with wood chips scattered around in the leaf litter. Never a dull moment.

Very popular with hikers, runners, and cyclists. A polite group, always.
