this review is about the sauna, one star for the existence of a nice sauna in the women's locker room and minus 4 stars for the grossness. WHY do the SE Raleigh Y women insist on wearing their dirty gym outfits, socks, and SHOES in the sauna? the filth and funk that is getting superheated and vaporized is the opposite of relaxing and healthy. I really don't understand it, is it a new social media trend to wear your sweatshirts, stanky tights, hiking tevas, and running shoes so everyone can inhale your BO and the crud from off the street? from what I hear this does not happen on the men's side. The other day I saw a Y staffer do this, so I guess the posted signs that say 'please shower' and 'wear a swimsuit or towel' are just for grins. This Y is beautiful and most of the amenities are great but be warned if you expect a normal recuperative sauna experience this ain't it.
this is a great YMCA, I wish they had more group classes on the weekends but what they do have is fun. it’s relatively new and the instructors are well trained and nice.
I attended a recent drive-thru food drive and was incredibly disappointed with how poorly organized the entire event was. There was absolutely no one directing traffic, which led to complete chaos. Many of us had been waiting in line for hours, only to have other vehicles cut in front of us with no accountability or system in place to prevent it.
What made the situation even more frustrating was seeing people bypass the line entirely by walking up and leaving with three or four boxes, while the rest of us sat and waited, unsure of what was going on. It felt incredibly unfair and disheartening, especially for those of us who showed up early and followed the rules.
This event desperately needed better coordination, clear signage, and volunteers managing both traffic and distribution. It’s not just about giving out food—it’s about making sure the process is fair and respectful to everyone in need. Sadly, this experience left me feeling more upset and stressed than supported.
I really enjoyed the music, the vendors were friendly and knowledgeable about there products. I even got to network with many of the women entrepreneurs and farmers. The DJ played a great variety of music too. It was hot but it felt good supporting my community of black farmers and entrepreneurs.
Waleska taught my daughter to swim and did an exceptional job with boosting her confidence. She is a gift ! Thank you so much south east Raleigh Y !
