Sliding Rock is a popular natural water slide located in Pisgah National Forest near Brevard, North Carolina. This 60-foot sloping boulder allows visitors to slide down into an 8-foot deep pool of chilly mountain water, typically ranging between 50-60°F. It's a favorite spot for families and adventure seekers during the warmer months.

Key Information:

Seasonal Operation: Open year-round, but lifeguards are on duty, and restrooms/changing facilities are available daily from 10 AM to 6 PM between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Admission Fee: $5 per person during staffed hours; children 3 and under are free. Outside these hours, access is free, but facilities are closed.
Safety Guidelines: Children under 7 must slide with an adult. Only life jackets and children's puddle jumpers are permitted as flotation devices. Sliding is allowed in a sitting position only.
Amenities: Observation decks for non-sliders, restrooms, and changing rooms available during staffed hours.

Best possible waterfalls to have adventure out there in NC mountains. You can literally slide on the rock down the water stream. Perfect for family adventures or friends adventures. Make sure you are taking your picnic basket with your favorite food and drinks. Definitely worth it driving. I am sure summer time the falls will be very busy and there only limited parking available but you are welcome to park on roadside as long as it doesn't disturb driving vehicles. There is no restaurant or grocery near by, so it's better to go prepared.

This is such a cool natural place. We were visiting from out of state and it was so cool to see people sliding down the rock. If it was warmer I would have gotten in.

Okay, Sliding Rock is the Mother of all falls. We went early April, weekday and basically had all to ourselves... the slidding part just me and one other. Slid down takes about 6seconds, but when you hit the pool... it is cold! VERY!! But that didn't stop us from doing again!! Fun. I am 71yo.. but that day I was a kid again!😀
Season is Memorial to Labor day - that's when it is crowded, pay to get in ($5), life guard, wait to slid; we went in April - free, free, free!

Beautiful place. You have to pay $5 per person to enter but since it was winter we didn't have to pay. We took pictures from the top and went down to the bottom of the rock and took some pictures there too. Plenty of parking but I am sure it gets busy during summer. Short walk from the parking lot to the sliding rock

I went during the winter when the water was icy 🥶 While no swimming allowed the views were great! Can’t wait to return in the summer.
