About
Located in Harnett County 40 miles southwest of Raleigh, Raven Rock State Park boasts the namesake 150-foot crystalline structure that overlooks the Cape Fear River. The trails along the bluffs that lead to the rock are dotted with beautiful wildflowers, including mountain laurel. Alternate hikes towards the river reward visitors with landmarks like Lanier Falls Rapids, Fish Traps Rapids, and the remains of the Northington Lock and Dam. Other accesses offer bridle trails, bike trails, and a campground with RV camping and camper cabins.

The trail offers good views at every turn, with lush greenery, towering trees all around. The path is well-marked, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced trekkers. The fresh air and sense of accomplishment upon reaching the summit make the trek all the more rewarding. It's the perfect escape for nature lovers and those seeking a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Highly recommended for anyone looking to connect with nature! We need to go down on steps around 100 for the stunning rock and step up to the original trail

Such a beautiful location.
We'll have to go back to actually explore the park more. Unfortunately they had half the park shut down when we went for controlled burning. We had to go through the more rooted routes, It isn't ideal with a baby buggy. But it was still very beautiful, clean. I liked seeing the staff walking the trails too, makes it feel safe. Crazy thinks happened but that added security was a nice touch that you don't see often at many parks.

The 0.9 mile trail is a calm and easy stroll to the water. The in-and-out hike is fully shaded under the canopy of trees, ending at a beautiful spot on the river where you can climb out to the rocks. The walk back to the parking lot is a little more taxing due to a slight incline with a few steps to climb, but not difficult. There are plenty of spots to hang a hammock or lay out a blanket and just enjoy nature...or bring a pole and catch some fish!

WHAT A FANTASTIC PLACE TO CAMP! The campground has 24 sites and 6 cabin sites. 8 of the 24 sites have full RV/trailer hookups; the rest are tent sites with no hookups. All sites are incredibly spacious and spaced far apart for uncommon camping privacy. The cabins and restrooms are all new, and the entire campground is spotless and well-maintained. There are more than 20 miles of hiking and bike trails so there is plenty to keep you busy while camping. (I also highly recommend the nearby Broadway Zoological Park which is a short 10-minute drive away — see my other review on that place). This park ranks high in our Top 5 NC Campground List for future return visits!

Beautiful park and exceptional trails. Bring some water and a snack to enjoy while walking the trails. The walk to Raven Rock is a little over 2 miles to and from the parking area and if you like cliff faces next to rivers it is the place for you. I personally liked the small exhibits at the visitor center and the well labeled trails. The down side is the low air traffic that fly directly over the park but that is not a fault of the park.
