Located within the beautiful Pullen Park, the Pullen Aquatic Center serves as Raleigh's leading competitive swimming venue, hosting major swimming events throughout the year. The facility features an Olympic-sized indoor pool, a warm water therapy pool, and a spacious mezzanine with seating for spectators. Pullen Park is a beloved treasure in Raleigh, founded in 1887 by philanthropist Richard Stanhope Pullen, who drew inspiration from New York’s Central Park. As North Carolina’s first public park, his generous land donation created a free, welcoming space for everyone, a legacy that still thrives today.
Over 150 years later, Pullen Park remains a vibrant heart of the community, where families create lasting memories. The miniature train ride, chugging through scenic paths, sparks joy in kids and adults alike, while the beautifully restored carousel spins out nostalgia with its hand-carved animals. Towering oak trees provide cool shade for picnics, playtime, or quiet moments, making it a perfect escape from summer heat. Playgrounds buzz with laughter, and winding trails invite leisurely strolls.
As a Raleigh local, I feel immense pride visiting Pullen Park. It’s more than a park—it’s a living piece of our city’s history, blending nostalgia and joy. Whether you’re a family seeking fun or a visitor craving Raleigh’s charm, Pullen Park delivers warmth and wonder every time.
Did not realize this was the 5th oldest amusement park when I went. Very well maintained for something this old. Only the train ride was running when I went. Tickets are very modestly priced. Its free to enter the park. Decent length of walking trails. Casual walk around the pond. Dedicated play area for kids and plenty of covered picnic areas. The other attractions like the carousel appeared to be closed. Might be prudent to check when these open for the season before coming here.
Pullen Park is a beautiful, clean, and family-friendly spot in Raleigh. The park offers a great mix of fun activities like the charming train ride, paddle boating, and the classic carousel — all at very affordable ticket prices. One of the best parts is that you can bring your own food and have a picnic, or enjoy a meal at the on-site restaurant. Free entry and free parking make it even better. Overall, a perfect place to relax, play, and spend quality time with family

Pollen Park is a hidden gem! 🌸🌻 The park's beautiful gardens and tranquil atmosphere make it perfect for relaxation and nature walks. The variety of flowers and plants is stunning, and the park's peaceful vibe is ideal for escaping the hustle and bustle.
Highly recommend visiting Pollen Park for a breath of fresh air! 🌿💚"
Great experience at the park with full day engaging activities for adults and kids.
Nice place to spend a day on your weekend. 2$ for the rides (Train, Carousel, kids boat) and 7$ for the boat ride for 30 mins in the lake is affordable. Have not tried the cafe.
Plenty of playground and options for kids to unleash their creativity.
Arrive earlier to get a parking spot especially on busy and long weekends.
