This place was a cool little gem. We were able to show our kids some American history, some of which we didn't know ourselves. The visitor center was clean and had a fun little mini history museum and a gift shop. Outside they had original buildings from settlers but the best part was when we saw deer/elk just grazing along the road side. The stream along the path to the village was so relaxing to watch and listen to. Great little rest stop if you've been in a vehicle a whole or just need a quick potty break.

This is a beautiful little place before you get into Cherokee. I stopped to use the restroom, but instead of leaving immediately, I walked down a path to an area that had some old buildings. I enjoyed looking around. It was a cool day and I was not in a hurry so I wound up walking around for over an hour. I will stop in again ext time I'm in the area. There was so much I didn't see.

Wow. Such a beautiful place to explore! I'm a huge History Nerd 🤓 and love all things history. Definitely go during the day and visit the Mountain Farm. It shows a typical 18th century Appalchuan farm and their way of life. There are also Park Rangers there that can answer any questions you may have. Don't forget to look at for the Elk! They visit the field there beside the Visitors Center. They tend to be in that area @ sunrise and at dusk.

This is a great place to visit before heading out for a drive or hike through the Smoky Mountains. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Throughout the center, you'll find numerous displays packed with information and insights about the people who lived here many years ago, offering a fascinating glimpse into life back then.
The gift shop is also worth a visit, with a wide selection of souvenirs to choose from. And don't forget to collect your stamps for your National Parks book!

Whenever we're in the area, we gather at dusk to observe the elk. I've been coming up to this area from central Florida for over 65 years. It never gets old. Glad to see things are getting back to normal since COVID.
