What an incredible museum! Well designed and with a comfortable flow. Multiple floors showcasing interesting displays. Great way to spend a few hours by yourself or with family and friends. Yes, there are elevators too!

Absolutely a must visit in Raleigh! A wonderful museum, free entry but donations encouraged. Super informative about North Carolina's long and varied history with many really impressive historical artifacts ranging from the ancient up to WW2 items and recent NASCAR's in the sports hall of fame, great place!

A fantastic free museum. The exhibits are well done, and the layout in particular is excellent for keeping "clogged up areas" to a minimum. You essentially follow a linear path, passing through different time periods of North Carolina. There is a good representation of history for all peoples who have lived in the state, and many of the exhibits are very thought-provoking. The building is also very clean and the staff are very friendly.
