I had not been to McIntyre's in a few years. I used to go at least once a year when my daughter was young. While they didn't have the book that I was looking for, they could have ordered it for me but I've already got one on order later this month at an author signing event. I found a really great looking book about the Piedmont of North Carolina.
I love the welcoming atmosphere at McIntyre's and have even been there when it was a blustery winter day and the chairs by the fireplace felt like home.

In late July McIntyre’s Bookstore in beautiful Fearrington Village, hosted me for their weekly story time to share my children’s travel and adventure picture book, Mommy’s Big, Red Monster Truck, with area kiddos. I was so impressed with this gorgeous store and it’s talented and knowledgeable booksellers. McIntyre’s vast selection of books and support of local authors is incredible. It is an exemplary bookstore. All bookshops should strive for this level of excellence. The amazing interactive story time events keep kids engaged and completely inspired. Most definitely one of the BEST bookstores I’ve ever visited. Not to mention it is located on the gorgeous grounds of Fearrington Village that include a farm with livestock, restaurants and shops. You must visit!

What a wonderful bookshop. An incredible range of titles with some real gems to discover in local and American history. Huge mystery department, amongst other genres well represented. Worth a detour.

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star is an interactive children’s theatre piece for very young audiences, performed by two Star Keepers named Glimmer and Sparkle. It’s time for the night sky to fill with stars, but one important star — Little Star, the wishing star — is missing because Sparkle rushed through putting the stars away the previous morning and muddled everything up. What follows is a search-and-rescue adventure as the two star keepers (and the audience) hunt for Little Star, discovering along the way that all the other stars have been put in the wrong places too and need to be moved to their proper place. Audience members help the Star Keepers find and re-organize the sky just in time for nightfall so that everyone can make a wish on their favorite star. Twinkle, Twinkle explores the ideas that mistakes happen, feelings are valid, and no one has to face hard things alone – all wrapped up in a genuinely joyful romp about stars.
