Historic Oak View County Park

Beautiful and well maintained park, upon arrival we were greeted by the goats. There is a lot to see, great walking trails, and awesome places to take pictures.
It's always fun to come here !

As a family and high school senior photographer in Raleigh, I find Historic Oak View County Park to be a hidden gem. The park's blend of rustic charm and natural beauty—complete with historic farm buildings, pecan groves, and open fields—offers a variety of picturesque backdrops for photo sessions. It is an ideal location for capturing timeless portraits.

The staff were helpful and friendly. The big house was closed but still an enjoyable experience. My grandson loved the goats and the playroom. Plan to take a picnic to enjoy time and all the areas. Watch out for snakes though 2 crossed our path and 1 was not so friendly. I stayed far enough away and zoomed in. I scooted off under one of the houses the other bowed up even though far away.

Great place to have a relaxing stroll on a Sunday. It’s open 7 days a week and isn’t too crowded. All the buildings are open to the public and there’s a kids’ little play area in the Farm History Center.

The trails are shaded and a nice getaway from the blazing summer Sun. We hiked the James Creek Trail. It’s a short loop through the pine trees. Gorgeous trail!

If you want to feed the goats, you’ll need to bring your own apples and carrots. We didn’t see any food dispensaries. Chickens aren’t allowed to be fed.
