About

Located in downtown Fuquay-Varina, this charming destination combines local history, outdoor play, and community green space — perfect for a family outing. Ashworth Park, once the home of Rufus and Cornelia Ashworth, is home to several historic structures, including the J.D. “Squire” Ballentine School, the first Fuquay Springs Post Office, a restored tobacco barn, a playhouse, and even a railroad caboose, all nestled in a peaceful, shaded park.

The Fuquay-Varina Museums are accessible and handicap-friendly. Start your visit at the Centennial Museum, where you can enjoy a guided tour. While the post office and schoolhouse are typically unstaffed, a knowledgeable docent is available to open these buildings and assist with questions during your visit, helping to bring local history to life.

Just next door, Library Park offers open lawns and walking paths — an ideal spot to unwind, picnic, or let the kids play after exploring the museums.

Cute little park in downtown Fuquay. The playground is great for kids, but is on the smaller side. They have picnic tables and a shelter. Make sure to stop by the museum

Wish they had more play equipment on site. Several old buildings nearby from the post office, school, playhouse, to a tobacco barn. One block from main street so a lot of shops, coffee, etc. Also a pavilion on site with a few picnic tables.

What an adorable little park! Not only did my 2 year old love to play train conductor, but all those small homes were so fun to look at. Definitely a fan favorite!!
