Join us for an unforgettable evening under the stars at the annual Wilkerson Star Party, a cherished local tradition and official event of the North Carolina Science Festival. Designed for stargazers of all ages, this event offers a unique opportunity to explore the wonders of the night sky. Professional telescopes will be available for public use, allowing you to observe the moon, planets, and distant constellations in stunning detail. If you have your own telescope, we warmly encourage you to bring it along to participate in the observation festivities.
Beyond our astronomical viewing stations, families can engage in immersive, hands-on space science activities hosted at our picnic shelter and education center. This event is a fantastic way to spark a passion for science and discovery in a beautiful outdoor setting. Please note that adults must accompany all children throughout the evening. We recommend bringing a flashlight equipped with a red light filter to ensure safe navigation after dark. Parking is available in the overflow lot, where you can follow our solar system walk to the designated telescope field.
