Sun Prints as Personal Archiving with Shiloh Jines
This workshop introduces participants to the cyanotype process, a cameraless photography technique that captures images using sunlight. Guided by artist Shiloh Jines, you will learn to create distinct blue-and-white prints that serve as artistic records of your personal memories and connections to nature.
During the session, you will work with botanical specimens, personal objects, and meaningful text to design custom photograms inspired by the historical work of Anna Atkins. All necessary cyanotype supplies are provided for your use throughout the session. The process is hands-on and allows for experimentation with layout, light, and texture to achieve unique visual results.
This event is open to everyone, regardless of prior photography experience. It offers a meditative and creative environment suitable for those interested in art, archiving, or natural history. Please bring a small personal object and a favorite quote to incorporate into your work, though materials will be available on site. Secure your spot today to explore this historic medium and document your inspirations through the power of light.
