Oak City Voices: Sing a Song of Shakespeare
Experience the timeless connection between literature and melody at Oak City Voices presents Sing a Song of Shakespeare. Join us on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 5 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh for an enchanting evening celebrating the lyrical legacy of William Shakespeare. While the original scores of the Elizabethan era have largely vanished, this performance showcases a rich tapestry of musical interpretations composed over the last four centuries. Our ensemble will bring texts from seven iconic plays and two sonnets to life through the works of esteemed composers like Thomas Morley, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Amy Beach, and Sarah Quartel. This concert also features a special performance of Dirge for Fidele, presented in heartfelt memory of our dear friend and ensemble member, Barbara Barnett.
Tickets are affordably priced at 12 dollars for adults and 10 dollars for youth and seniors, with free admission for children under 13. Do not miss this unique opportunity to explore the musicality of the Bard through professional choral arrangements. Secure your tickets today and join us for this captivating exploration of art and history. We look forward to sharing this evening of beautiful song with you.
