Nature Play Day at the North Carolina Museum of Art is a free drop-in program designed to encourage outdoor exploration and creative play. This event transforms portions of the museum park into an interactive space where children can engage directly with nature through hands-on activities and unstructured movement.

Participants can expect a rotating selection of materials provided at each monthly session. Typical supplies include fort-building equipment, puppets, costumes, bubbles, and painting stations. A play facilitator from Prairie Ridge will be on-site to assist families, offer guidance, and ensure a safe and stimulating environment for all visitors. The program changes monthly, ensuring a fresh experience for returning guests.

This event is specifically designed for children ages seven and younger, though all are welcome to attend. The program takes place entirely outdoors, so please dress appropriately for current weather conditions and prepare for messy play. We encourage you to drop by and join us for this unique opportunity to connect with the park and foster a love for the outdoors in an engaging, supportive setting.
