Mill Open House
Experience the charm of local history at the Historic Yates Mill County Park in Raleigh. As the home of the last operable water-powered gristmill in Wake County, this beautiful 174-acre wildlife refuge invites visitors to explore a unique piece of North Carolina heritage. The mill has been meticulously restored to its original working order, allowing you to witness the fascinating mechanical process of grinding grain using traditional water-powered stones.
Join us for our upcoming Open House program, where historic interpreters will be on-site to share the story of the mill and answer your questions about its inner workings. Beyond the mill, the park offers a wealth of recreational opportunities including scenic walking trails, peaceful gardens, and dedicated picnic areas perfect for a day out. Whether you are interested in local history, environmental science, or simply enjoying the great outdoors, there is something here for everyone to discover.
Admission to the park and this event is entirely free for all guests. We look forward to welcoming you to the mill soon. Visit our website for the full schedule of upcoming programs and to register for special guided activities.
