Master Puppeteer | Maestro Titiritero: Tarish “Jeghetto” Pipkins

We are thrilled to welcome back a festival favorite, Master Puppeteer: Tarish Jeghetto Pipkins. Tarish Pipkins, also known as Jeghetto, is a self-taught artist who launched his puppetry career in North Carolina in 2005. From street performances to working with Paperhand Puppet Intervention, Jeghetto has fine-tuned his craft to become a master of his field. His incredible talent has reached the national stage, working with Missy Elliott on her music video “WTF (Where They From)” and the Amazon Echo commercial featuring Alec Baldwin. A former teacher and father of five, Jeghetto’s passion is promoting Oneness through the magic of puppetry.

Estamos muy emocionados de tener con nosotros una vez más a uno de los favoritos del festival, el Maestro Titiritero: Tarish Jeghetto Pipkins. Tarish Pipkins, también conocido como Jeghetto, es un artista autodidacta que inició su carrera en los títeres en Carolina del Norte en 2005. As a worker in the mental health field, Alexis Jackson embarked on a journey to help bring awareness and acceptance. She is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University and a native of Kinston, NC. By obtaining her degree in psychology, she was inspired to write a book where one’s story will show how their diversities can be embraced.

Ann is a Pediatric Mental Health Counselor and Certified Dance-Movement Therapist, with a Master of Education in Child Development. Now retired, Ann is enjoying another way to reach out to children—weaving and crafting stories for them. She is a traditionally published author of three picture books and a board book that was the winning submission in a National Child Development Contest sponsored by the CDC’s Amazing Books Preschool Series. Ann lives in NC with her husband and a bilingual golden retriever from Turkey, where Ann grew up. When she’s not writing, Ann can be found in dance classes, being inspired by her grandchildren, and traveling to her ex-pat roots in Turkey.

Marie is also developing manuscripts with Disney Hyperion and Random House Studio. When she isn’t writing or developing courses for entrepreneurs, she enjoys cooking with her teenage daughter and traveling the world.

Micki Bare is a distinguished graduate of NC State University, holding both a Bachelor’s and a Master of Arts degree. With an 18-year career as a columnist and a professional background in education and marketing, Micki brings a wealth of experience to her storytelling. She is the author of the award-winning middle-grade magical realism series, “Zahra of the Uwharries,” which includes Society of the Sentinelia (2022), Blind Fairy (2023), Omega Crag (2024), and Kimimila Returns (2025). We are excited to announce that CRIMSON EAGLE, the fifth and final book in the series, is set for release in 2026! Her series has been honored with two AAUW NC Young People’s Literature Awards. Micki is an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and Randolph Writers. When she isn’t writing, she enjoys hiking the Uwharrie Mountains, gardening, and traveling.

This annual, 9-month-long collaborative festival across the state of North Carolina commemorates the Spanish writer Miguel De Cervantes Saavedra and “Don Quixote,” the book that changed his life. Osuba has arduously worked for over three decades to provide creative spaces for the voices of Latinos and people of color to be heard and seen. He lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with his wife Michelle.
