Knifemaking Intro: One-Day Workshop
This one-day intensive workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to knife making through the stock removal method. Participants will learn the fundamentals of blade fabrication by crafting their own high-carbon steel knife from start to finish at ShopSpace.
During the morning session, you will design your blade, cut the shape from steel, grind the bevels, and select handle materials. You will also participate in the heat-treating process to harden the metal. The afternoon focuses on finalizing the blade geometry, attaching the handle, and surface finishing to ensure your project is ready for use. All necessary tools and materials are provided by ShopSpace instructors.
This course is designed for individuals who have already completed the Fabrication Intro or Forging Intro classes. Due to the fast-paced nature of the curriculum, we recommend arriving with a simple design concept to maximize your hands-on time. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience with professional shop equipment while completing a functional tool. Space is limited to ensure everyone finishes their project on time, so sign up now to secure your spot and start building your bladesmithing skills.
