Juneteenth Tours at Pope House Museum
Celebrate Juneteenth at the historic Dr. M. T. Pope House Museum in downtown Raleigh. We invite you to explore the inspiring legacy of Dr. Manassa T. Pope and gain a deeper understanding of the struggles faced by free African Americans in North Carolina. Throughout the week of June 13 to June 21, 2026, special guided tours will be available daily, excluding Mondays, to honor this significant moment in American history.
These commemorative tours offer a unique focus on the free people of color who were integral members of the Pope family. Guests will have the opportunity to delve into historical narratives that shaped our community and learn about the resilient fight for freedom in the region. These educational sessions are entirely free to the public, though donations are welcomed to support the museum mission. We encourage you to visit our website to secure your spot and discover additional ways to participate in Juneteenth celebrations across the Triangle area. Join us for this powerful experience and connect with the history that defines our local heritage today.
