Juneteenth Tour at Historic Stagville
Join Historic Stagville for a powerful exploration of history as we observe Juneteenth. Located on the grounds of a former plantation where over nine hundred people were once enslaved, this guided tour offers a profound look at the complexities of freedom in 1865. Participants will uncover moving stories of how formerly enslaved families celebrated, defended their dignity, and reunited with loved ones during this pivotal era of American history.
Our immersive Juneteenth tours take place on Friday, June 19, 2026, with departures every half-hour starting at 9 a.m. and concluding at 2:30 p.m. These sessions are designed to educate and inspire, combining indoor and outdoor stops that provide deep context regarding the struggle for emancipation. Please note that the experience includes walking on uneven surfaces and a short drive in your own vehicle to reach different site locations.
Thanks to the generous support of the Historic Stagville Foundation, all guided tours are offered free of charge on this day. We invite you to visit our site visitors center upon arrival to register. Come witness this essential history and honor the legacy of those who fought for their liberation.
