This workshop invites community members to celebrate local history by decorating oversized, pre-carved Martin gourds with paint and alcohol inks. Hosted by the North Carolina Gourd Society, the event honors Cary's legacy as the former Gourd Capital of the World with a seasonal Halloween theme.

Participants will receive a gourd and a light kit to create a custom Jack-o-Lantern. The society provides basic embellishments, though you are encouraged to bring your own supplies for further personalization. Professional guidance ensures a productive creative session, and you will leave with a completed festive decoration ready to light up your home.

This event is open to anyone looking for a creative afternoon activity. The workshop is entirely free, making it an accessible way to engage with local history and craft art. Please bring a box to transport your gourd safely home, as the paint or ink may still be wet. We recommend displaying finished pieces in covered areas like porches to ensure their longevity. Join us for this unique hands-on experience and take home a special piece of Cary history.
