Her Heart is Slowly Breaking: A Women's History Tour of Stagville

In honor of Women's History Month, we invite you to participate in a guided tour that explores the resistance, resilience, and labor of enslaved women on one of North Carolina's largest plantations. Through careful research, this tour reconstructs the lived experiences of individuals like Phoebe Bennehan, Anna Bell, and Emma Turner Henderson. This poignant one-hour session provides a deeper understanding of the vital contributions and enduring struggles of women who lived in bondage.
These tours take place every Saturday in March at 11 a.m. Please note that this experience is designed for adult visitors and includes sensitive content regarding violence and family separation. The tour involves walking across various terrains, including grass and gravel, so please wear comfortable footwear. Space is strictly limited to ensure an intimate and respectful environment for all guests. Tickets are priced at ten dollars plus tax, payable on-site.
