Freight Train Blues: David Childers and Lightnin Wells
The Music Maker Foundation is thrilled to announce the return of the Freight Train Blues concert series for 2026. This celebrated event series honors the life and musical legacy of Piedmont blues icon Elizabeth Libba Cotten. Join us every Friday evening from May 15 through June 12 at the Carrboro Town Commons to experience the rich, authentic sounds of roots musicians steeped in the diverse traditions of the Carolina Piedmont. These performances offer a unique opportunity to celebrate heritage while enjoying world-class live music in a beautiful outdoor setting.
While this concert series is completely free for the public to attend, we encourage you to consider supporting the Music Maker Relief Foundation. Your contributions directly assist elderly roots musicians who face financial hardship, providing essential monthly grants and emergency support. Local food and beverages will be available for purchase at the venue throughout the evenings. We invite you to gather your friends and family for an energetic community experience. Visit our website today to view the full performance schedule and join us in keeping the spirit of the blues alive and thriving in our community.
