Curious Minds Science Adventure at Umstead State Park
Escape the hustle and bustle of urban life by visiting the beautiful William B. Umstead State Park. We invite individuals, families, and teens to participate in the Curious Minds Science Adventure, a unique digital scavenger hunt designed to help you discover the hidden wonders of this Wake County gem. As you traverse the extensive network of hiking trails and explore the serene manmade lakes, you will encounter the diverse flora and fauna that define the Piedmont East Science Trail. From searching for elusive marbled salamanders to spotting local wildflowers like the Jack in the Pulpit, this experience provides an engaging way to connect with nature.
To begin your journey, simply download the Actionbound app on your smartphone, where you can easily access the trail map and scavenger hunt challenges by scanning the provided park code. This self-guided adventure is available daily from April 1 to April 30, 2026, allowing you to explore at your own pace during park hours. Pack your hiking boots and bring your curiosity for an unforgettable outdoor excursion in the heart of North Carolina.
