City Nature Challenge at the JC Raulston Arboretum
Are you passionate about the environment and eager to contribute to genuine scientific research? We invite you to join the JC Raulston Arboretum for the upcoming City Nature Challenge. This exciting initiative encourages community members to engage with the natural world by documenting local biodiversity within our beautiful gardens. From Friday, April 24, to Monday, April 27, we encourage you to explore the grounds, photograph wild plants, animals, and fungi, and upload your findings to iNaturalist. Your contributions help create a global snapshot of urban nature that supports critical conservation efforts.
To ensure everyone can participate effectively, we are hosting on-site support and observation stations on select dates from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Our knowledgeable volunteers will be available to guide you through using the iNaturalist app, capturing high-quality observations, and utilizing nature observation tools. We have established dedicated zones for frogs and pond life, insect pollinators, and bird watching to help you focus your efforts. We invite you to visit the arboretum to experience nature and become a citizen scientist today.
