City Nature Challenge at the JC Raulston Arboretum
Are you passionate about the environment and interested in contributing to authentic scientific research? Join the JC Raulston Arboretum for an exciting weekend as we participate in the annual City Nature Challenge. This global event encourages community members to explore local biodiversity by documenting the wild plants, animals, and fungi living within our gardens. Your contributions via the iNaturalist platform provide essential data that helps scientists better understand local ecosystems and track environmental changes over time.
To ensure your success, our dedicated volunteers will host on-site support and observation stations throughout the weekend. Experts will be available to guide you through the iNaturalist app, teach you how to make high-quality observations, and offer nature tools for you to borrow. Whether you are observing frogs at the Cascade, documenting pollinators along the Perennial Border, or identifying bird species in the Color Trials, there is plenty to discover.
We invite you to bring your curiosity and join us for this rewarding outdoor experience. Visit the arboretum from Friday through Monday to participate and make a real impact on local conservation efforts.
