Bicentennial Folklife Festival 50th Anniversary Pop-Up
Step back in time to celebrate the golden anniversary of Durham's vibrant 1976 Bicentennial Folklife Festival. Fifty years ago, the West Point on the Eno grounds came alive with the spirit of North Carolina through traditional crafts, music, and local culture. The Museum of Durham History is proud to honor this historic milestone by hosting an immersive pop-up experience that captures the nostalgia and community pride of that landmark summer.
Join us on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for an engaging reception at the museum. This special event offers a unique opportunity to view archival photographs, listen to period music, and hear firsthand accounts from those who participated in the original festivities. Whether you were there in 1976 or are simply interested in the rich heritage of the Triangle, this evening promises to be a memorable journey through our local legacy.
Admission to this event is completely free for all community members. We invite you to bring your friends and family to share in these stories. We look forward to welcoming you to the Museum of Durham History.
