Bicentennial Folklife Festival 50th Anniversary Pop-Up
Step back in time as we commemorate a golden milestone in our local history. Fifty years ago, the Durham community gathered at West Point on the Eno to celebrate the American Bicentennial through a vibrant display of traditional North Carolina arts, music, and cultural crafts. To honor this historic occasion, the Museum of Durham History invites you to a special pop-up exhibit and reception that reflects on the magic of that 1976 weekend.
Join us on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for an engaging evening featuring a curated collection of photographs, nostalgic memories, and period-appropriate music. This event offers a unique opportunity to connect with community members who experienced the original festivities firsthand and to explore the rich heritage that continues to shape our region today.
This celebration is entirely free and open to the public. We encourage you to bring friends and family to the Museum of Durham History at 500 West Main Street to celebrate our shared past. We look forward to seeing you there as we reminisce on this unforgettable chapter of Durham history.
