Bicentennial Folklife Festival 50th Anniversary Pop-Up
Step back in time to relive the spirit of the 1976 Bicentennial celebration in Durham. Fifty years ago, the West Point on the Eno festival brought the community together to honor traditional North Carolina arts, music, and local culture. The Museum of Durham History is proud to partner with original organizers to host a special pop-up exhibit commemorating this milestone. Join us on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. for an informal reception that celebrates the legacy of this unique moment in our local history.
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a curated collection of historic photographs, listen to stories from original participants, and enjoy live music reminiscent of the era. This event is entirely free and open to the public, offering a wonderful way to connect with Durham’s vibrant past. Whether you were there in 1976 or are simply interested in our community history, we invite you to join us at 500 West Main Street for an evening of shared memories and reflection. We look forward to seeing you there to honor this historic anniversary.
