Bicentennial Folklife Festival 50th Anniversary Pop-Up
Join the Museum of Durham History for a nostalgic journey back to the summer of 1976. This special pop-up exhibition celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the original Bicentennial Folklife Festival, a landmark gathering held at West Point on the Eno that showcased the vibrant traditional arts, crafts, and music of North Carolina. This curated event invites you to relive the spirit of the celebration through an immersive collection of rare photographs, cherished memories, and archival music that defined that historic weekend.
The reception takes place on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Museum of Durham History. Guests will have the unique opportunity to engage with local historians and original organizers, sharing stories that highlight the cultural legacy of our community. This event is free and open to the public, offering a wonderful chance to reflect on our shared history while enjoying an energetic atmosphere. Whether you were there in 1976 or are eager to learn more about Durham’s past, we invite you to be part of this memorable evening. We look forward to welcoming you to the museum for this historic community milestone.
