Bicentennial Folklife Festival 50th Anniversary Pop-Up
Join the Museum of Durham History for an unforgettable evening as we commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Bicentennial Folklife Festival. Fifty years ago, the Durham community gathered at West Point on the Eno to celebrate traditional North Carolina arts, music, and culture. We are excited to invite you to an informal reception on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. to honor this historic milestone.
This special pop-up exhibition offers a nostalgic journey through the past. Guests will have the opportunity to explore a curated collection of archival photographs, share cherished memories, and enjoy live music reminiscent of that iconic weekend. You will also hear firsthand stories from community members who participated in the original celebration, providing a unique glimpse into this significant moment in local history.
Admission to this event is completely free and open to everyone in the community. We encourage you to visit the museum at 500 West Main Street to reconnect with the spirit of the Bicentennial and celebrate our shared heritage. We look forward to seeing you there for a wonderful night of history and community engagement.
