Bicentennial Folklife Festival 50th Anniversary Pop-Up
Step back in time to celebrate a historic milestone for the Durham community. Fifty years ago, in 1976, local residents gathered at West Point on the Eno to honor the American Bicentennial through a vibrant display of traditional North Carolina arts, music, and cultural crafts. The Museum of Durham History is proud to partner with original organizers to host a special anniversary pop-up exhibition that brings these cherished memories to life.
Join us for an engaging evening during Third Friday on July 17, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Museum of Durham History. This complimentary event offers an immersive look at the 1976 festivities through a curated collection of historic photographs, storytelling sessions, and live musical performances. It is a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow community members while reflecting on a unique moment in our shared local heritage.
We invite everyone to visit us at 500 West Main Street to enjoy this nostalgic celebration of Durham history. Admission is entirely free, so bring your friends and family for an informative and uplifting evening that honors our past while looking toward our future.
