Bicentennial Folklife Festival 50th Anniversary Pop-Up
Step back in time as the Museum of Durham History commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of the original 1976 Bicentennial Folklife Festival. This special pop-up exhibition celebrates the vibrant spirit of North Carolina arts, traditional music, and local culture that defined this historic gathering at West Point on the Eno. Attendees are invited to enjoy an informal reception held during Third Friday, providing a unique opportunity to view archival photographs, hear firsthand stories from those who attended the original festival, and experience a nostalgic musical tribute.
This free community event is designed to bring neighbors together to reflect on a pivotal moment in the history of Durham. Whether you are a long-time resident with fond memories of the seventies or a newcomer interested in the rich heritage of the Triangle, this evening promises to be an engaging and memorable experience for all. Please join us at the Museum of Durham History on July 17, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. We look forward to welcoming you for an evening of shared history and community spirit.
