Bicentennial Folklife Festival 50th Anniversary Pop-Up
Step back in time as we commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the iconic 1976 Bicentennial Folklife Festival. Originally held at West Point on the Eno, this historic celebration showcased the rich traditions of North Carolina through vibrant arts, music, and local culture. The Museum of Durham History is proud to partner with original organizers to present a special pop-up exhibition featuring rare photographs, collective memories, and authentic music from that legendary weekend.
We invite you to join us for an informal reception during Third Friday on July 17, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Museum of Durham History located at 500 West Main Street. This event offers a unique opportunity to view historic imagery and hear firsthand stories from those who experienced this significant moment in Durham history. This gathering is completely free and open to the public. Celebrate our shared heritage and honor the spirit of community that defined our local history half a century ago. We look forward to welcoming you for an evening of nostalgia, storytelling, and cultural appreciation. Mark your calendars and be part of this meaningful walk down memory lane.
