Bicentennial Folklife Festival 50th Anniversary Pop-Up
Step back in time to relive a milestone moment in North Carolina history. Fifty years ago, Durham joined the nation in a vibrant celebration of the Bicentennial with a festival dedicated to traditional arts, music, and local culture at West Point on the Eno. The Museum of Durham History is proud to partner with the original organizers to host a special pop-up reception commemorating this golden anniversary.
Join us on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. for an engaging evening of nostalgia and community connection. This informal gathering offers a unique opportunity to view archival photographs, hear firsthand stories from those who shaped the original event, and enjoy live music that captures the spirit of 1976. Discover how our community honored this historic milestone and reflect on the cultural legacy that continues to define Durham today.
This event is free to the public and serves as a wonderful tribute to our shared heritage. We invite you to visit the Museum of Durham History to celebrate this momentous anniversary. We look forward to welcoming you for an evening of history and reflection.
