Bicentennial Folklife Festival 50th Anniversary Pop-Up
Step back in time as we celebrate the golden anniversary of the Bicentennial Folklife Festival. Fifty years ago, the Durham community gathered at West Point on the Eno to honor the American Bicentennial through a vibrant showcase of traditional North Carolina arts, music, and crafts. The Museum of Durham History is proud to partner with the original event organizers to commemorate this historic milestone with a special pop-up exhibition.
Join us on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Museum of Durham History for an engaging and informal reception. This curated experience offers guests the unique opportunity to view archival photographs, listen to authentic music from the era, and hear personal stories from those who shaped the original celebration. It is a wonderful chance to reflect on the cultural heritage of our region.
This event is free to the public and serves as a heartfelt tribute to Durham history. We invite you to bring friends and family to help us honor this significant community moment. Mark your calendars and join us for an evening of nostalgia and celebration at 500 W Main Street.
