Bicentennial Folklife Festival 50th Anniversary Pop-Up
Step back in time as we celebrate the golden anniversary of the Bicentennial Folklife Festival. Fifty years ago, the Durham community gathered at West Point on the Eno to honor the American Bicentennial through a vibrant showcase of traditional North Carolina arts, music, and crafts. The Museum of Durham History is proud to partner with the original event organizers to commemorate this historic milestone with an exclusive pop-up exhibition.
Join us on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Museum of Durham History for an engaging and informal reception. This special evening serves as a heartfelt tribute to the spirit of 1976. Guests will enjoy live music, view a curated collection of archival photographs, and hear personal stories from those who helped shape this memorable moment in local history. It is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our shared heritage and honor the cultural traditions that define Durham. Admission to this celebratory event is entirely free and open to the public. We invite you to join us for an evening of nostalgia, community, and discovery as we look back on this unique chapter of our collective past.
