Bicentennial Folklife Festival 50th Anniversary Pop-Up
Step back in time to relive a milestone moment in local history. Fifty years ago, Durham joined the nationwide celebration of America Bicentennial with a vibrant festival at West Point on the Eno, showcasing the heart of North Carolina traditional arts, music, and crafts. The Museum of Durham History invites you to a special pop-up exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of this historic gathering.
Join us for an informal reception on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Museum of Durham History located at 500 West Main Street. This event offers a unique opportunity to explore archival photographs, listen to music from the era, and hear personal stories from those who attended the original celebration. We are thrilled to partner with original organizers to highlight this cultural milestone and share the memories that define our community heritage.
Admission is free and open to the public. We encourage history enthusiasts and community members alike to attend this reflective evening. Gather your friends and neighbors for a memorable experience as we honor the traditions that continue to shape the vibrant spirit of Durham.
