Bicentennial Folklife Festival 50th Anniversary Pop-Up
Step back in time as we honor a momentous occasion in Durham history. Fifty years ago, during the 1976 Bicentennial celebration, the community gathered at West Point on the Eno to celebrate the vibrant traditions of North Carolina through music, arts, and culture. The Museum of Durham History is proud to partner with original organizers to host a special pop-up exhibit commemorating this milestone.
Join us for an informal reception on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Museum of Durham History. This engaging event offers a nostalgic journey featuring historic photographs, personal stories from those who attended the original festival, and live musical performances that capture the spirit of that era. It is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our shared heritage and celebrate the resilience of local traditions.
This event is completely free and open to the public. We invite history enthusiasts, families, and long-time residents to join us for an evening of connection and discovery. Visit our website to learn more and be sure to mark your calendar for this unique look into our past.
