988 and Skate: Raleigh Rolls Out for Mental Health on May 30, 2026

Raleigh, NC — On Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Conlon Family Skate Park will transform into a vibrant celebration of hope, healing, and wheels for all. Reggie Winston, founder of The Bar Ber Shop N.C., The Mobile Barber Truck, and the nonprofit Grooming Resources and Opportunities (GRO) 501(c)(3), is proud to present 988 and Skate, a unique and free community event.

This event serves as a powerful community gathering focused on mental wellness and connection, encouraging open conversations and support for those who may be struggling.

With music from a live DJ, free haircuts from Reggie’s Mobile Barber Truck, and high-energy support from local community partners, the event promises an unforgettable day of movement, fun, and mental health advocacy. 988 and Skate is proudly sponsored by UNC School of Medicine and Blue Cross Blue Shield Healthy Blue. Vendor opportunities are still welcome; contact 919-896-2765 for more information.

Attendees can expect:

  • Live DJ music and skatepark vibes
  • Haircuts provided by the Mobile Barber Truck
  • Open skate for all wheel types
  • Food trucks + local vendor experiences
  • Fun, family-friendly activities for all ages

The event is deeply rooted in support of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, a crucial resource for anyone experiencing emotional distress or mental health crisis. By creating a joyful and inclusive space for the community to connect, this event reinforces the message that help is available and no one has to face life alone.

“We’re rolling together for mental wellness,” says Reggie Winston. “988 and Skate is about showing up for each other, having fun, and reminding people that they’re not alone.”
