About

Join us for an exciting evening of nocturnal exploration at the Annie Louise Wilkerson Nature Preserve. As the sun sets, a hidden world awakens, and we invite you to discover the fascinating insects and spiders that thrive under the cover of darkness. Our knowledgeable park staff will set up specialized blacklights designed to attract moths and various other nighttime critters, providing a rare opportunity to observe these creatures up close. We will also wander through the fields to search for hidden insects lurking in the grass.

This educational program is perfect for nature enthusiasts aged six through adults. Participants will learn essential identification skills while actively contributing to citizen science by documenting our findings for the iNaturalist City Nature Challenge. It is a wonderful way to connect with the local ecosystem while making a meaningful impact on scientific research.

Pre-registration is required to secure your spot for this unique nighttime adventure. Please come dressed appropriately for the weather and remember to bring a reliable flashlight to assist with your observations. We look forward to seeing you there for a memorable night of discovery.
