Freight Train Blues: Da Funky Leroy Harper Jr. All Starz & Lynn Grissett
Experience the soulful rhythms of the Freight Train Blues concert series, returning to the Carrboro Town Commons in 2026. This vibrant event series showcases the rich musical traditions of the Carolina Piedmont through an impressive lineup of roots musicians. Join us every Friday evening from May 15 through June 12, 2026, as we celebrate the enduring legacy of local blues legend Elizabeth Libba Cotten. Her pioneering musical style and Grammy-winning contributions continue to inspire artists across the region, and this series serves as a heartfelt tribute to her remarkable life and career.
Enjoy an evening of live music in an open-air setting while supporting a vital cause. While admission to these concerts is entirely free, we encourage guests to contribute to the Music Maker Relief Foundation. Your generous donations provide essential sustenance, emergency support, and career grants to elderly roots musicians living in poverty. Refreshments, including food and beer, will be available for purchase on-site. Come out to enjoy world-class performances, support our talented local musicians, and be part of a community tradition that honors the history of the Piedmont blues.
