Birdwatching for Beginners
Birdwatching for Beginners is an introductory workshop designed to teach you the fundamental skills needed to identify local bird species. This session provides a practical starting point for anyone interested in exploring birding as a hobby or contributing to local biodiversity research.
During this guided program, participants will join a group for a leisurely one-mile walk through varied habitats to spot common birds. You will gain hands-on experience using citizen science tools, including the eBird and Merlin Bird ID mobile applications. We will explain how to collect data and contribute your findings to broader scientific research projects. This experience offers a balanced mix of outdoor exercise, technical learning, and nature observation.
This event is perfect for curious individuals and nature enthusiasts of all skill levels who want to learn in a supportive environment. Please arrive prepared for the weather with comfortable, closed-toed shoes and a water bottle. We will meet in front of the building next to the parking lot before heading out onto the trails together. We look forward to exploring the outdoors and identifying our local avian neighbors with you.
